Wem musikalischer Humor nichts ausmacht, dem gefällt „Gorilla“ mit Sicherheit. Hier wird schon am Anfang aufgezeigt, wie sich die englische Nationalhymne anhören sollte. Auch vor Coversongs bekannter Namen haben Vivian Stanshall, Neil Innes und Co. keine Angst. The Beatles mit „With A Little Help From My Friends!“ bekommen ihr Fett so weg wie viele andere musikalisch Arten und Unarten. Ein besonders gutes Beispiel ist „The Intro And The Outro“. Das swingt gewaltig während ein Orchester vorgestellt wird. Aufgemotzt wird das Original auf meiner Ausgabe mit sechs ganz starken Boni.
Mit „Gorilla“ lieferte die Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band 1967 ihren Einstand in das Musikgeschäft und das mit meiner Meinung nach auch ihrem besten Album. Wie geschrieben, bringt bei der Bonza Dog Doo-Dah Band Humor mit und ihr werdet eure Freude haben. Für alle anderen gilt: Finger weg! Ähnliches schrieb ich bereits bei der Vorstellung von „Keynsham“. Vergleichbar ist die Band mit Monty Python.
